Being a
Senior Citizen doesn't mean you can't learn new things, and learning about
computers is very important for you. |
Are you retired? Bored? Want to have some FUN?
We as Senior Citizens may be over the hill but we still know a thing or
TWO!
Now y'll gonna say this here whipper snapper doesn't know what he is talking
about. But yer wrong, check the
about the owner page. I am old enough for
my Social
Security will get got my first check, hope it doesn't run out before I do...
I know this: You put air in your tires, you used to change the points, plugs,
and air cleaner filter every three months or around three thousand miles. Heck most of
us changed out an engine or two. Swapped out a clutch. We grew up when tv was
black and white and if you lived in a big city you had TWO channels! We
learned what a two bits were and very seldom had a buck.
Now if you changed the points in your car, set the gap on them and the plugs
then the only reason you can't build your own computer is you don't want to! So
get them glasses on, clean off a space on the bench and put that puppy together.
Show them kids that their Alienware is a waste of good money.
Senior Citizen
I will not put the complete how to on this page, I have written a how to
section on what you need to build your own computer, (and
a book or two!) heck you could even build
yourself a computer that will play any game those kids play. And believe me you
can play those games too! I'll bet you could even get good enough to take on yer
grandson and beat him!
When you get done with the first one you'll be building them for your
grandkids! What a present! "A custom computer my
grandpa made for me." I remember when Grandma and Grandpa were
coming, Grandpa always has some neat toy he had made in his shop. Well Grandpa
of the 21st Century can do that too! You just need a little help is all.
So what do you say? Gonna do it? Surprise the misses with a new computer! (I
did, it is the one in the book I wrote to help you do yours)
Give one to your son, make him blush! Granddaughter going off to collage? Save
Mom and Dad some money and have some fun while yer at it.
Joke: Do you know why my Misses likes me to work on this web
site? (Besides the money it brings in that is.) Because she knows where I am
when she can't see me! (I don't play golf, got in trouble when I was younger for
finding lost golf balls while they were still rolling...). [sigh, I said it was a
joke!]
So do Senior Citizen - you
want to have some fun?
Here are two pages to get you started.
All the steps
on how to build a custom pc
Grandson kicking yer butt with his games?
Build yer own butt kickin' machine!
What you need to build a
Custom Gaming PC
If you need some help with the other stuff like the hardware and the
Operating System I have written
e-courses.
And a few checklists for the
Senior
Citizen to help you
out.
Surprise them kids, they think we need to be put out to pasture, well maybe
the golf course but it is pretty hard to play golf at night...
You may want to read this, I started to write this a a joke in
response to an article I read, but it turned serious. This is over nine years
old, nothing has changed... [sigh]
When you get done you will have a high quality computer at a fraction of the
cost of one that is assembled by some kid in China or Korea. And you don't
have to learn any of that 'Geek' stuff.
Lots of us do it, why don't you?
These days the vocabulary of the kids have changed, mainly
it is the "computer" that has changed the vocabulary from what we knew to the
"geeky" side of computing, if you need a resource that has been translated from
tech/geek jargon in to (our!) everyday English I have done all the work
for you with this:
Self Computer Repair Unleashed! 2nd Edition.
