Tyan TOMCAT I7210 Motherboard Review

The Tyan TOMCAT I7210 486 Motherboard is still around and useable, however most newer software will not run on this motherboard/processor setup...

As the Intel Pentium 4 era draws to a close there are few manufactures still designing and producing the P4 mother board. The Tyan Tomcat and Tiger series of Tyan Motherboards are of high quality at a reasonable price.

As with other manufactures I have owned a Tomcat and a Tiger mother board. The Tiger was a 486 processor mother board but was a single processor board, it gave way to the Tomcat Pentium Dual Processor Slot A mother board.

If you want to upgrade only your mother board and keep your current processor as a way to save some $$ then this is one of the best P4 boards produced today. It has features that some of the newer boards by other manufactures lack, with the SATA raid and support of up to 4 gig of ram with dual channel support you will breath new life into your system without upgrading to the newer processors. Considering it has two 1 Gbit lan ports and built in video with 8 meg of ram, this would make a very good replacement for a small business server with out the expense of the XEON processor. Very high value for your hard earned money.

Support offerings:

Online support for the Tyan TOMCAT I7210manuals, bois upgrades,  and  device drivers. One year warranty for most TYAN products. All returns must go though the reseller where item was purchased.

TYAN does do an exchange or repair of your mother board I would give their support a 9 out of 10. (Be prepared to give a full explanation of the defect, go slow; some of their techs do not speak English very well.)
